Nadia Ady has two decades of dance training. Her primary technique was built in ballet, with over 15 years of training, having completed her Advanced I Cecchetti examination, and apprenticed with Cities Ballet. She has also trained in contemporary dance, jazz, tap, hip hop, Brazilian zouk, Lindy hop, blues, and of course, west coast swing. Her background includes study of history, culture, and physiology of dance. She studied dance composition at Victoria School of Performing and Visual Arts and at the University of Alberta. Nadia has been an assistant dance instructor at Darlene’s Dance Academy and Dance Evolution. She has completed the University of Alberta Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research Teaching Practicum course and trained for teaching ballet at Cecchetti Dance Theatre (now School of Alberta Ballet Edmonton Studios).

Nadia loves to dance west coast swing and is passionate about improving the west coast swing community. She travels regularly to learn from North America’s top west coast swing instructors and to dance socially in other communities. The University of Alberta is her home and she is keen to build its west coast swing community.

Other Lessons

Can’t do Thursday evenings? There are other opportunities for you to learn west coast swing. West Coast Swing Addicts Edmonton maintains a list of other west coast swing instruction in Edmonton.

There is a current trend known as Swouk in the west coast swing community. This comes from the combination of west coast Swing and Brazilian zouk. We highly recommend learning some zouk, which you can do in Edmonton with Ludic Zouk.

Curious about where west coast swing developed from? You can take Lindy hop (the predecessor of west coast swing) and other vintage swing classes with Swing-Out Edmonton on campus.

We also recommend taking other classes with Campus & Community Recreation or the University of Alberta Dance Club. Maintaining overall fitness and developing body awareness and general dance technique will make you a better west coast swing dancer.
